Money power will not win, says Vaiko

Money power would not win in the forthcoming Assembly election, said Vaiko, general secretary of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, while addressing a meeting of the People’s Welfare Front here on Monday night.
Appealing to the people to prevent distribution of money for votes, Mr. Vaiko said that the State had “turned into hell” because of corruption and liquor.
While recalling the death of Gandhian Sasi Perumal near Nagercoil in the struggle demanding total prohibition, Mr. Vaiko said that it was a murder perpetrated by the government.
He accused the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam of planning to win the election with money power and was confident that Kanyakumari district would follow the Kerala model of not voting for the party in power.
Mr. Vaiko assured to provide a corruption and liquor-free government, with Vijayakant as Chief Minister, if the PWF-DMDK combine was voted to power.
State secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) G. Ramakrishnan said that the PWF-DMDK government would bring in an anti-corruption law and confiscate ill-gotten wealth.
CPI State secretary R. Mutharasan said that both the major Dravidan parties faced corruption charges and wondered why all attention was now on the PWF and DMDK, which was described as an alignment of zero with zero. Founder of Viduthalai Chirtuthaigal Katchi Thol. Tirukmavalavan also addressed the meeting.
