Deoghar: Politics of Short-cut Leads to Short-circuit, Says PM Modi in Jibe at Opposition

Taking a swipe at opposition parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday cautioned against taking “short-cut” politics based on populism, and said it could destroy a country. The prime minister said there was no alternative to hard work.

Modi, while addressing a BJP rally in Jharkhand’s Deoghar where he inaugurated the AIIMS and a new airport, said, “The country faces a major challenge of short-cut politics, but it is a big truth that the country whose politics is based on short-cut can have short-circuit… It can destroy the country.”

TDP will support Draupadi Murmu as presidential candidate, says party chief Chandrababu

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh decided to extend its support to the candidature of former Jharkhand Governor, Draupadi Murmu, for the post of the President of India.

Stating that the TDP has always been committed to social justice, the party’s national president, N Chandrababu Naidu, said that during the TDP’s strategic committee meeting on Monday, July 11, they decided to back Draupadi Murmu for the post of President of India.

Recalling that the party had also supported KR Narayanan and APJ Abdul Kalam for the post of President of India, the TDP chief said that these were classic examples of the party's commitment to social justice.

“The TDP is behind GMC Balayogi becoming the Lok Sabha speaker and Prathibha Bharathi as Speaker of the Assembly,” said Naidu, adding that Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu became union minister only with the party's support.

“Similarly, beyond political considerations, the TDP wholeheartedly extended support to PV Narasimha Rao at Nandyal to ensure that he became the Prime Minister of India. Thus, the TDP has always stood by the Telugu people and was committed to social justice,” said the party chief, Chandrababu Naidu.

Earlier today, presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu met Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his residence.
